Lindsey Buckingham Under the Skin REPRISE

There are plenty of reasons not to like this record: the underlying tone of stoic self-pity, the therapy-speak, the references to Lindsey as a visionary. And yet this really is a lovely piece of work. You will remember him as the guitarist/talent in the big version of Fleetwood Mac. Skin is a continuation of his quieter moments in that group - acoustic guitars supporting big melodies on elaborate traceries of arpeggios and barely-there percussion' ripping musicality subordinated to the service of simple pop expressiveness: the sketch as finished article. Always an attractive, even classical, proposition. NC
