Show You How, Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind,
Under The Skin
Lindsey Buckingham, the musical architect behind Fleetwood Mac, one of the most popular bands of all time, Buckingham has played the key role in stoking the hit-making machinery, yet he is also a seeker, a chance taker willing to shake up the status quo for the sake of new ideas.
His new album, Under the Skin represents a creatively restless superstar unfettered, unencumbered, unleashed. "I feel that I was able to reach a really authentic place emotionally," he confesses. "It was a coming to terms with those things that had made me unhappy over the last many years. The work is quite open and personal."
As for the specific inspiration for Under The Skin Buckingham says, "You can take everything I've heard since I was 4 or 5. It's all had a collective impact on my musical psyche. It's all a ferment of stuff, and now I'm in a place where I have had the time and the perspective to understand it, contextualize it, and personalize it, and then put it back out."
Buckingham plans to hit the road again once Under The Skin is released, but don't expect any guitar armies this time around; he will be working with a small combo - two guitars, keyboards, percussion - to replicate the album's compellingly stripped down approach. Buckingham admits he's not sure where his work fits in today's fragmented market place.
