....In the middle and late 60's, the Buckinghams and the Nickses were neighbors in the Menlo Park-Atherton area, classmates at Menlo-Atherton High School, where they were part of the Fritz Rabyne Memorial Band, later just called Fritz.

Today Stevie Nicks is a focal point in Fleetwood Mac, but in Fritz, she was a singer of limited range with mousy brown hair in a group that opened shows at San Jose State and Santa Clara County Fairgrounds.

After the Nicks family moved back to Phoenix, (Kayde note: I think they moved to Chicago for a while, if I'm not mistaken) she returned to major in art at San Jose State but dropped out a few credits shy of graduation, much to the dismay of her family.

Lindsey Buckingham's family traces its history back to Dr. Benjamin Cory, the "singing doctor" who in the 1840's was the valley's first physician.

His father was a football star and his brothers were "swimming jocks" in high school.

His mother, Rutheda Elliott Buckingham, who now lives in San Jose, once played piano and tried to see that her youngest son took piano lessons, but he was impatient.

He played guitar by ear, listening to the Kingston Trio when hootenannys were the big thing. Last year Buckingham played guitar for John Stewart's successful album "Bombs Away Dream Babies" and described the experience as playing with an idol, one he'd learned guitar from....
